THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is recalling some P3.8 million Shared Service Facility (SSF) equipment due to the failure of the beneficiaries to operationalize the machineries they received.
DTI Regional Director Sitti Amina Jain said among the equipment to be recalled are as follows: abaca processing; bag-making; fruit processing; mobile cooling tank; refrigerated furnishing trailer; and, cassava processing.
These equipment were awarded to two MSMEs from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and six from this city.
The equipment and corresponding value were awarded to the following MSMEs: Rope Processing, P84,000; and, Abaca Processing, P80,000 of Ipil Zamboanga Sibugay; Bandera-Dulian Abaca Growers Association, P143,000; Tulungatung Urban Poor Home Owners Organization-Gawad Kalinga, P249,481; Zambo-Isabela Manggo Growers and Processors Association Inc., P648,800; Zamboanga Dairy Cattle Association, Inc., P975,000; Buenavista Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, PhP850,000.00; and, Lubigan Cassava Farmers Association, P850,000.
Jain said these equipment will be recalled on the first quarter of 2018 and will be transferred to other cooperators in Zamboanga Peninsula region.
She said it is stated in the agreement that if they are not going to operationalize the equipment, the DTI has all the right and authority to recall the machineries.
The equipment are given for free aimed to improve the quality of the product, increase the production, and be competitive in the market.
The SSF is a flagship program of the DTI to improve the quality and productivity of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector through the provision of processing or manufacturing equipment, tools and machinery. (SunStar Philippines)
