THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested two Korean fugitives wanted by authorities in Seoul for allegedly defrauding their fellow Korean nationals in their business dealings.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the foreigners as Lim Chae Beom, 63, and Son Dae Hyon, 45.
Beom was arrested on March 10 at his house in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite during the operation conducted by agents of the BI's fugitive search unit while Hyon was apprehended last Thursday at his residence in Cabanatuan City.
BI Associate Commissioner Jose Carlitos Licas said Beom is wanted for defrauding two fellow Koreans of some 238 million won or roughly US$210,000 dollars between 2013 to 2014.
Hyon, on the other hand, is wanted for defrauding a Korean-owned construction firm in Vietnam of more than US$141,000 dollars sometime in October 2011.
According to Morente, the suspects will be deported to Seoul to face their cases of large-scale fraud.
Morente added that they will be expelled for being undesirable aliens as soon as the BI board of commissioners issue the order for their summary deportation. (SunStar Philippines)
