NUEVA Ecija Councilor Renan Ponce Morales denied allegations that he and his family used Kris Aquino through her one-time show "Trip ni Kris" on GMA-7 to further his political ambitions.
Morales uploaded a seven-minute clip on Bespren Foundation's official Facebook page, where he addressed all the issues surrounding their connection and business dealings with Aquino.
He spoke on behalf of her mother, Rhodora Morales, the producer of the travel show, and their family-owned business, The Ultimate Productions.
Morales clarified reports that he allegedly claimed that Aquino was in love with him, which the television host denied in an April 10 exclusive interview with PEP.ph.
"Never kong sinabi yun, ever. It's very inappropriate," Morales said.
He then went to recall their initial meeting, which he described as "very casual and very friendly."
"Maganda yung usapan namin. May relationship ng nabuo yung The Ultimate team and si Ms. Kris."
Aquino, in the same interview with PEP.ph, said that she felt used by the Moraleses.
In response, Morales said he was surprised upon learning that the television host felt this way when they had a "harmonious relationship."
He said they hired her to promote the beauty of the Philippines, in this case their province of Nueva Ecija, and nothing more.
"Doon sa 'nagamit' po siya, I believe sinabi niya yun because of the fact na may mga tsismis na lumabas na nali-link kaming dalawa."
Morales confirmed that they had a press conference at the Club Filipino before the April 9 airing of the show, but they informed and invited Aquino.
He said his mother only had good words for the Queen of All Media.
"We were asking help from Ms. Kris kasi yung The Ultimate Productions bago lang din naman kami.
Morales also denied that they were late in securing the payment for Aquino's services and showed receipts of their February 27 and March 30 transactions.
He reiterated that they paid her in full.
In the end, Morales said his family accepts Aquino's apologies and they hope to clear and settle the air with the television host.
(SunStar Philippines)
