A SCHOLAR of the Iloilo Provincial Government graduated summa cum laude from the West Visayas State University.
Karen Gardose, 20, a resident of Barangay Agtabo, Passi City, was recognized Friday, April 13, during the Pasidungog program at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. She finished Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.
“First of all, I’m overwhelmed and blessed because I wasn’t expecting to reach this award,” said Gardose.
She said she only dreamed of being able to study since her family was considered underprivileged. She said she is thankful for the scholarship provided by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr.
“Never in my life I thought to receive such award,” she said.
She said the scholarship was a huge help to students who were unable to study due to lack of money.
Gardose added that she plans to continue her studies and take up Actuarial Math. She also plans to serve as government worker in the future.
At present, Gardose said she wanted to teach senior high school students in Passi.
Gardose, who house is 10 kilometers way from her school, advised aspiring students to never give up on their dreams despite the challenges.
“Face and embrace the challenges wholeheartedly because it will help you to reach your dreams,” she said.
Digi Gardose, mother of Karen, said she is very happy because her child got the highest award.
