Davraa gets P15-M budget from Local School Board

DAVAO City Councilor Pilar Braga assured that the city hosting of the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2018 slated February 18 to February 23 has the Local School Board's financial support.

Braga, in her privilege hour speech last February 13, said the Local School Board (LSB) allotted P15 million to make sure that the basic amenities, like security, accommodation facilities, equipment, food, and other needs, are sufficiently met.

"We want our guests to experience the kind of hospitality that has made Davao City a favorite destination in the Philippines," she said.

During Tuesday's session, Department of Education (Deped) Davao Division Superintendent Dr. Maria Ines Asuncion extended the invitation to the vice mayor and all the city councilors to grace the opening of the sportsfest that serves as qualifying for the Palarong Pambansa.

Councilors were each given schedule and identification cards for the opening ceremonies set at the University of Mindanao at 3 p.m. of February 18.

Meanwhile, DepEd-Davao spokesperson Jenielito Atillo said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps media forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel that the Davraa Meet preparations are nearing 100 percent.

He was referring to the playing venues, billeting centers and coordination with the City Government of Davao and other concerned agencies. (With JCR)
