THE Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO)-backed Summerfest 2017 Criterium Cycling Race will unreel on May 28 at the Crocodile Park Grounds.
PhilCycling deputy secretary-general Salvador "Jun" Paholio, in a Facebook message to SunStar Davao, said the event organized by the Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC) will be a road bike race that expects entries from neighboring cities and municipalities.
"This aims to promote the sports tourism and sports development program in Davao City this summer," Paholio said, adding that it will also help the National Sports Association (NSA) for cycling to discover and produce talented cyclists who will represent the city in the upcoming Batang Pinoy 2017 Mindanao leg.
Participants may vie in both individual and team competitions.
"Each team must field at least three riders per category. The team who will get the highest accumulated points will be declared the champion," Paholio added.
While the registration opens at 7 a.m., 1992 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist Dominic Carpio will conduct a criterium cycling clinic for the 10 to 16 years old participants endorsed by the City Social Services Development Office (CSSDO).
Prizes are also at stake.
