ROOM accommodations in Davao City are almost fully-booked already for the upcoming Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao on March 25.
According to Davao City Tourism and Operations Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson, hotels in the city are already fully-booked with the smaller inns already 90 percent booked. However, for those who are going to attend the event but haven’t booked rooms yet, Tecson said there still available pension houses and inns that they can avail.
CTOO expects about 5,000 tourists that are going to visit and participate during the Ironman 70.3 Challenge on the 25th.
Aside from the local participants, a great number are also expected from different parts of the country including celebrities who are known to be physically active.
In an earlier published article, those who are expected to come and participate are Piolo Pascual, Matteo Guidecelli, Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles, and Kim Atienza.
As the event bring in influx of tourists and marathon-enthusiasts alike from different corners of the Philippines, security of the main things being taken care of.
Sports Development Division officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera said a series of meetings with the involved local government units are being done to ensure security and safety of the participants.
“We have been discussing security and safety of the participants who will pass through outside Davao City municipalities during the bike leg,” Aportadera said adding that coordination with the Central 911, Philippine National Police, Task Force Davao, the Public Safety Command Center, and the Philippine Air Force are being done in preparation.
The race will start at Azuela Cove with a one-loop swim where the participants are to go back for their first transition. After that, they exit onto the highway for the fast, single loop bike ride all the way to the turnaround point at Tagum City. After that, they head back to the Azuela Cove, for the second transition, exit through J.P. Laurel Avenue towards the commercial district completing a two-loop run. (JPA)
