Editorial: Davao welcomes new VM Al-Ag

FORMER Davao City Councilor Bernard E. Al-ag was sworn in as the new vice mayor of Davao City by Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday afternoon at her office at the City Hall.

This developed after former vice mayor Paolo Z. Duterte resigned from his position last December 2017.

Al-ag said he assured that as the newly installed vice mayor of the city he will continue to support the 10-point agenda of Duterte-Carpio.

“We will make sure that her projects will be realized,” he said, adding that he has got the mayor's back.

Likewise, Al-ag assured that he will continue some of the programs of former vice mayor Duterte.

SunStar Davao, together with the rest of Dabawenyos, welcomes the entry of Al-ag as the new vice mayor of Davao City.

While there were instances last year that Al-ag was acting vice mayor when Duterte was not around, it is exciting to note that now as full-fledged vice mayor, we will be able to see what he can do fully in that position.

It also seems a breath of fresh air as he could introduce a new leadership style and dynamics into the leadership panel of Davao City.

We have high hopes for Al-ag as the new vice mayor of Davao City. We are looking forward to the positive contributions he may have for Davao City in the future.

We are hoping that he will stand firm as a good public service and refrain from getting eaten by the rotten political system of the Philippines.

We call on to him to also be a catalyst of change and trailblazer in promoting clean and honest politics.

To Vice Mayor Bernard E. Al-ag, congratulations and more power to you!
