DAVAO will rock your summer this year with more exciting line up of must see and do around the region.
“Every year, we aim to go bigger. There is just so much to see, do, and appreciate in Davao, and we put together a unique set of events and activities to reflect that,” shared Department of Tourism-Davao Region Director Robby Alabado.
On the fourth year’s official launching, the Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) committee announced this year’s dates and event schedules. From April 10 to May 31, discounts will be offered on airfare, accommodations, tours, dining, shopping, beauty and wellness, as well as fun events in sports, arts, and nightlife.
Here are some of the highlights that will surely be hashtagged as one of your most memorable summer experiences.
In Davao, join the Duterte Tour, take a weekend Pub Crawl or catch the Hataw Dabaw Streetdance Competition. Cultural Performances? Art Mindanao and Daba-Daba Performance Festival will be featured all season long at malls and dining strips.
Have you experienced Davao Oriental? You should! Dahican Beach will be the venue to this year’s National Skimboarding Competition and Frisbee Invitational Tournament on April 21 to 23. Go beyond the shoreline and catch sight of dolphins and whales, and embark on an eco-adventure. Mt. Hamiguitan Unesco Heritage Park in San Isidro is a must-see.
If you’ve been to Davao, chances are you’ve taken your saltwater dip on the beaches of the Garden City of Samal. Visit Samal. But have you seen the giant clams at the Taclobo Sanctuary or the bats at the Monfort Bat Cave? Join the tours! Who knows you’ll catch sight of brawny men and fit women along the way. That’s because the island will be hosting the Durianman triathlon on April 23 and Samal Triathlon on May 7.
Everybody knows about Mt. Apo but may have missed out on Sta. Cruz’s most exciting summer events, the Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge and the Mt. Apo Sky and Vertical Race. Truly a “rock summer” with this duo sport tournaments.
But there’s also another kind of sports event that is well-loved by many: a sale extravaganza. Check out the mall across the city, sale events will be aplenty during the VDFS season.
“Whether you’re into shopping, sports, arts, or even if you just want a quiet relaxing evening at a nice local restaurant and then go for a roadtrip in the region, we have something for you. There are, indeed, so many reasons why now is the best time to Visit Davao,” said Benjie Lizada, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Davao Fun Sale Execom.
The Visit Davao Fun Sale is organized by the Davao Fun Sale Execom in partnership with the Department of Tourism. It is co-presented by the Davao City Government, AirAsia, Bonamine, BPI Cards, Cebu Pacific, and Tanduay.
