IN TIME with the celebration of the 81st Araw ng Dabaw, Krispy Kreme Philippines brings smiles to children from the different tribes of Davao City as it organizes its #EveryOneIsAnOrginal campaign here in Davao City.

On March 14, 2018, the kids were treated to a factory tour and donut making activity at the SM City Davao branch of Krispy Kreme.

Princess Payag, Krispy Kreme local relations officer for Mindanao, said the activity is being held in partnership with the Hope Foundation as part of their corporate social responsibility.

"We want to celebrate Araw ng Dabaw by featuring joy in everyone's individuality," she said, adding that this is being done through highlighting the different tribes in Davao City, hence their partnership with the foundation. Mamu Hope Fernandez, president and founder of Hope Foundation, said this is the first time for some of the kids, who came as far as Sirawan, Toril, Davao City, to come to SM City Davao.

Baiking Edres, member of the Davao Peace Council, said it was not easy explaining to the kids and their parents what Krispy Kreme or a doughnut is since most of them are not familiar with the brand nor the product. "Dili man gud nako maexplain unsa nang Krispy Kreme. Ang akuang giexplain nalang kay magbuhat ta cake (I cannot explain what Krispy Kreme is to them; so I told them that we will be baking cakes)," Edres said, adding that when it comes to doughnuts, what they are familiar is pastry coated in sugar.

She added that they purposely chose children who have not been exposed to Krispy Kreme.

One of the kids, Russel, who is from the Sama tribe, said this was his first time to visit SM City Davao.

Smiles were clearly on the faces of the children as they entered the store. You can also see the excitement and wonder in their eyes as they took their respective seats. Minutes later, the kids were brought to the area where Krispy Kreme doughnuts were being freshly made every day. After the quick tour, they settled back to the table to design their very own donut. The kids had the option to put strawberry, white chocolate, chocolate, and original glaze on their doughnuts; sprinkle cookie crumbs or marshmallows; or drizzle it with strawberry, chocolate, or white chocolate icing.

Anjali, a kid from the Tausug tribe, said she really enjoyed the activity. She also shared that it was her first time to encounter Krispy Kreme and its products.

Aside from the #EveryOneIsAnOrginal activities that were held for the kids, Krispy Kreme also rolled out is Araw ng Dabaw promo wherein you can get three Chocolate Glazed doughnuts and three Original Glazed doughnuts for just P149 from March 15 to 18 at their branches in SM City Davao, SM Lanang Premier, and Gaisano Mall of Davao.
