ANNIPIE, the decade-old homegrown bakery café in Davao City, is set to open another branch in Abreeza Ayala Malls early next year.
During the weekly press con at the Habi at Kape on Wednesday, November 22, Annipie owner John Ervin Añonuevo said their 10 years of being in the industry had already resulted to six branches with four of these in Davao City and two franchise branches in Tagum City and General Santos City.
“We see the expansion as a response to the business’ need to grow as a company. Also, we want to be known in this niche that we are in right now as well,” he said.
Now, they are on the designing and finalizing stages and targets to open by January or February next year.
Añonuevo added franchise of their business had been available since 2008 but they had been hesitant and wanted to try it out for themselves before letting others manage it. Just a few weeks ago their latest branch in General Santos City opened at SM City Gensan.
Their 40-square meter branch to open in Abreeza will be at the former location of Pastanni, at the second floor of the mall. Añonuevo said the renovation and establishment of their mall branches usually cost about P800,000 to P1 million and about P2 million to P2.5 million for bigger branches.
As they would have limited kitchen space in their new branch, Añonuevo said they wouldn’t be able to serve meals that would need preparation from scratch such as their lomi, pancit, and other pasta meals. Although, he said, their signature pastry and baked goods will still be very much available at the new branch.
In Davao City, Annipie is located at Quimpo Boulevard, Malvar St., Gaisano Mall, and SM Lanang Premier.
