Consumers warned of products that did not go thru FDA

THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns the public of purchase and consumption of food products that are available in the market but have not gone through the FDA evaluation, product testing, and registration.

On September 4, FDA released a public health warning advisory to the public against the purchase and consumption of Super Super Coffee 3in1 Original, Spices and Herbs Luyang Dilaw Turmeric Powder, Tropical Rendezvous Pure Honey Bee, Hanna's Peanut Cookies, Nature's Muscovado Specialty Sugar, and Giovan's Special Yema.

"Since unregistered food products have not gone through evaluation and testing process of the FDA, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose potential health hazard to the consuming public. [t]he public is advised not to purchase the aforementioned violative products," read the official advisory.

Through the FDA post-marketing surveillance activities, it has confirmed that the food products did not go through the registration process of FDA and no Certificate of Product Registration was issued.

Consumers are advised to be cautious of similar products and to always check for FDA registration before purchase. The search feature of the FDA website can also be of use as well. (JPA)
