CEBUANO John Marvin Rafols snagged a bronze medal in the boys’ long jump event of the 9th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Schools Games at the Bishan Stadium in Singapore last Saturday.
The standout jumper from University of Cebu (UC) jumped 6.58 meters in the finals to give Team Philippines a bronze medal.
Team Philippines Karl Alvyn Aquino of National University (NU) bagged the event’s gold medal with a leap of 7.06m. Churod Chatchanan of Thailand took the silver with a registered leap of 6.68m.
The 18-year-old Rafols, a Grade 11 student in UC, finished with a silver medal in the triple jump event in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique last summer.
He was nursing a left hamstring injury that time. (RSC)
