FOR allegedly raping his former girlfriend, a 50-year-old businessman was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, February 10, in Sitio Fatima, Barangay Jubay, Liloan town, Cebu.
Chief Inspector Randy Korret, the town police commander, identified the accused as Edgardo Orquia Ruelo, who had been listed as the most wanted person in the northern Cebu town.
Korret said the Ruelo's alleged victim was his ex-girlfriend, a former village official in northern Cebu. Ruelo did not resist arrest.
The arrest was based on the warrant of arrest issued by Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 58 Judge Ma. Lynna Adviento last July 12.
No bail has been set for Ruelo's temporary liberty.
The arrest, a joint operation of the tracker teams of Liloan and Tabuelan police stations led by Korret and Inspector Emmanuel Rabaya, was made after a month-long surveillance on the suspect.
Ruelo is detained at the Liloan Police Station and will be brought to the court, which then will issue an order transferring him to a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility. (Kevin Lagunda/SunStar Cebu)
