Costanilla: Quartet in ‘Kinse’

Sam Costanilla

PRIESTS. They call themselves the Cebu Clergy Performing Artists. The four singers are active in their respective parishes, except for one who is on leave now. They started off as a quartet 15 years ago and had been staging concerts here and abroad. These singing priests continue to get invitations to perform because they can really entertain the public with their unique way of performing.

ANNIVERSARY. And since this year happens to be their 15th anniversary as a quartet, they are slated to present “Kinse” on May 19 at the Mariners’ Court Cebu near Pier 1. They are selling tickets at P200 apiece only. I have seen a number of their previous shows and they were really very amusing. They can sing all song genres (standards, rock, rhythm and blues, new hits etc.) and dance at the same time. They can even give those professional entertainers a run for their money!

QUARTET. The quartet I’m referring to is composed of Fr. Joselito Gutierrez of the St. Joseph Parish in Mabolo, Fr. Kipling Agravante of the St. John the Baptist Parish in Tabuelan, Fr. Zacary Zacarias of the Sta. Monica Parish in Kawayan, Dalaguete and Fr. Rudy Ibale, MSC (on leave).

HAPPY. I am happy that the Minglanilla local government unit has sustained the Sugat Kabanhawan as a yearly festival. This event is now on its 13th year. Next Monday, I shall discuss its successful staging yesterday, Easter Sunday. (For comments, text 0932-277-8771).
