CAGAYAN de Oro City's Banjo Norte ruled the 2017 Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 triathlon Philippines Asian elite division on Sunday, August 6, at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

Two more Oro triathletes, Brian Borling, and Jen Paloma also brought honors to Cagayan de Oro after excelling in their respective age categories.

Norte dominated the Asian elite division after finishing four hours, 35 minutes and 50 seconds.

His closest pursuer Paul Jumami came six minutes behind with 4:41:35 to settle for second place.

"Sa wakas nibalik ra iyang porma," said local biking promoter Randolf John "Jan-Jan" Cua.

Cua recalled that Norte's last titular finish was in 2013 in the Cobra Ironman, but things did not work well for him in the following years.

Borling and Paloma also took pride in the prestigious triathlon competition annually held in the Queen City of the South.

Borling bagged the second place honor in male 30-34 category, while Paloma settled for third in the female 18-24 category.

The three of them are now qualified to advance to the 2018 World Ironman Competition set to be slated at Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa.
