CAGAYAN de Oro City’s Francis Casey Alcantara and his Indian partner Karunuday Singh on Thursday, July 13, barged into the men’s doubles final of the US$ 25,000 F12 China Futures held in Shenzhen Tennis Centre, China.

Alcantara and Singh defeated the pair of Chu-Huan Yi of Chinese-Taipei and Su Hao Zhong of China in the semifinals, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

They will face the duo of Nam Hoang Ly of Vietnam and Fajing Sun of China in the final.

Alcantara’s partnership with Singh have won two straight doubles titles in past episodes of the long-running US$ 15,000 Futures tournaments in Singapore.

On their way up, Alcantara and Singh experienced a tough encounter against the tandem of Yecong He of China and Wishaya Troncharoenchaikul of Thailand who fought them toe-to-toe in the quarterfinals.

After barely taking the first set via a 7-6 (3) thriller, they faltered in the second set, 2-6 in the face of Chi-Thai’s aggressive stand.

There was no denying Alcantara and Singh, however, in the deciding third set as they gave their all to close out the match at 10-3.
