CAGAYAN de Oro’s promising young dribblers are set to show wares in the paradise island of Camiguin on Saturday, May 20.

They will comprise at least three Cagayan de Oro-based teams to join the Camiguin All Stars of Kagawad Maeng Quezon and team manager Erwin Aranas in the two-day fiesta hoopfest dubbed as “Kap Toping Rodriguez Basketball Cup 2017” at Bonbon covered court in Catarman, Camiguin.

“Bibo na sab kini sa Catarman. The last time around mga commercial players sa senior division ang gi-request ni Kapitan Rodriguez. But now, developmental kaayo iyang approach kay mga junior players from Cagayan de Oro ang mohatag lingaw sa ilang kapistahan,” sportsman Andy Calingin told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Calingin, himself, will call the shots for the Andy Calingin Basketball (ACB) team which will have the combined forces of the Liceo de Cagayan University high school varsity and the Claveria Cowboys.

After representing Northern Mindanao in the just-held Palarong Pambansa in Antique, coach Carlomagno Dagalea and assistant coach Jonas Molawan will also bring their Palaro NMRAA squad in Camiguin.

Completing the cast are the Cagayan de Oro All Stars showbiz team of “Baby James” Abuceo, featuring former Cebu South Western Cobras forward Diether Quijada and erstwhile Sacred Heart guard Charles Abada.

“Patsada nga exposure ‘ning Camiguin trip sa akong mga bata. Puhon ang uban nila mo-anib na sa University of Batangas in Luzon and other basketball-inclined universities in Manila,” Abucejo said.
