RAIN or shine, the delayed Crusaders Football Festival Cup will be slated on Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12, at the Westridge Sports Park in Carmen Village, Cagayan de Oro City.

Tournament organizer Ivan Caiña said on Thursday, March 9, that everything is set for the two-day 7-Aside competition organized by the Xavier University Women’s and Men’s Football Varsity teams in partnership with the Beta Sigma Fraternity, Sigma Beta Sorority.

"Fingers crossed, we just hope the heavy rain that poured the last time will not come back and ruin our tournament this time around," Caiña said.

The tournament is for Under 10 (U10) Mixed (2007), U13 Boys (2004), U16 Boys (2001), U19 Boys (1998), U13 Girls (2004) and U17 Girls (2000) on Saturday and for Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Above 35 (1982) on Sunday.

Caiña also said the deadline of registration will be one hour before the first matches of the day. Registration fee is P1,000 per team.

Winners of this competition will receive trophies and medals. For details and registration please contact Sam at 09178082242 and April at 09150539683.

The tournament is sanctioned by the local FA Mocagesco under Percy Guarin and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

The 1st Crusaders Cup is the second tournament for CDO’s busy football calendar this year after the Rosevale Football Cup last January 21 to 22. It was supposed to be held last January 28 to 29 but was postponed because of the heavy downpour that made the playing venue unplayable.
