THE City Council will hold a public consultation on the controversial condominium project in Upper General Luna-Leonard Wood-Salud Mitra barangay area which has been the subject of numerous complaints, on Feb. 22, 10 a.m. at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall.
The council committee on urban planning, lands and housing chaired by Councilor Edgar Avila will spearhead the consultation with invited parties including the project contractor Marcons Builders Inc., barangay officials and residents of Salud Mitra barangay.
The issue has been discussed at length at the City Council but the committee sought more venues to discuss it further.
Barangay officials and residents earlier complained that the project poses danger to their lives and properties due to the destroyed roads, broken culverts and severed sewage lines as evidenced by the ground shaking they are experiencing and the visible cracks to their homes.
There were also claims that the contractor plans to expand the project from 11 stories to 16 floors without the necessary permits.
The said plan was admitted by Marcons representative John Garcia but was outrightly opposed by City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) Nazita Banez and City Planning and Development Officer Evelyn Cayat in one of the meetings.
Garcia also promised to repair any damage caused by the construction upon proof that it indeed was the cause. (PR)
