HOST-SAGAY Team A proved why they are bound to Palarong Pambansa in Vigan this summer after dominating the Girls’ division of the just-concluded 3rd Mayor Thirdy Sepak Takraw Tournament held at Sagay City National High School in Negros Occidental.
The Christopher Uychiat-mentored home team bested seven other entries with Talisay City and Sagay City Team B finishing first and second runners-up, respectively.
The Sagay City-based girls’ team is set to represent Western Visayas in the upcoming Palaro after their successful stint last month in Iloilo.
In the under-13 division, Bata National High School topped 10 other teams as Estefania Elementary School of Bacolod City settled for first runner-up followed by Escalante City.
Bata Team A and Bata Team B also dominated the 16 under division with a 1-2 finish as Victorias City settled for second runner-up while CIS (Bacolod/Talisay) ruled the 35 Up category followed by Sagay City and Victorias City.
Tournament manager Adonis Solano said they are looking forward to a bigger event next year with more teams from across the province taking the hard court.
In Day 2 of the 5th Sinigayan 7-A-side Football Festival, San Carlos City teams displayed dominance when they won the Mix 11 and the Women’s Open.
La Salle Bacolod ruled the Boys 18 as PPFACC-Cadiz won the Boys 15. Escalante FC triumphed in the Men’s Open.
