THE Philippine senior league team continues their quest in the 2017 Asia-Pacific Softball Regional Tournament at the Singapore American School in Woodlands, Singapore against India and Guam on Saturday, June 17.
If successful, the Negrenses will vie for a spot in the 2017 Little League Senior Softball World Series in Lower Sussex Little League Park in Roxana, Delaware from July 30 to August 8.
The team, bannered by the Domingo Lacson National High School, meets India at 9 a.m. and take Guam this afternoon at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, in the little league division, Philippines’ bet Education Training Center School III (ETCS) clouters hope to fortify their position this weekend in the double round-robin game against Indonesia and Singapore.
The winner of this division will represent the region in the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Oregon on August 9 to 16.
The Asia-Pacific is bracketed in Pool B with the Central, Southwest, Latin America and Oregon District 14 while Pool A has East, West, Southeast, Canada and Europe-Africa.
In 2003, Bacolod City’s Paglaum Village National High School captured the Junior League World Series crown in Kirkland, Washington after defeating Puerto Rico in the finals, 2-0.
In 2000, the Filipina softbelles also placed second while third in 2001 and 2002.
With the successful softball program in the province, Bacolod City and Negros Occidental were able to produce top caliber players for many universities in the Manila and for the Philippine Blu Girls, the national softball team.
