TWO tricycle drivers died while a passenger was injured in a collision along the national highway of Bangga Parnaso, Barangay Cubay in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Friday, June 16.
Police identified the fatalities as Harlou Mombay of Barangay Cubay and Rico Fagarita of Barangay La Granja. Both drivers succumbed to multiple injuries.
Injured was Randolf Sioco, 61, of Barangay La Granja.
Investigation showed that both tricycles were traveling from the opposite directions when the accident happened around 9:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, four passengers were injured when a Ceres Liner bus fell on its side at Sitio Talus, Barangay Igmayaan, Salvador Benedicto town around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 18.
Of the 65 passengers, injured were Nin Camille Gustilo, 19, of Barangay 2, San Carlos City; John Ronald Empio, 25, Barangay 6, Bacolod City; and male and female minors, both 17.
The four victims sustained minor injuries.
Senior Inspector Jovito Bose, town police chief, said driver Neil Gemalfin, 47, of Barangay 3, Himamaylan City, lost control of the wheel while the bus was on its way to Bacolod.
He was released from police custody since nobody complained about the incident.
In another accident, 14 persons were hurt after a passenger jeepney hit a concrete wall along Burgos Extension in Bacolod Saturday, June 17.
The jeepney was driven by Teddy Arellano, 23, of Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City.
Arellano was supposed to overtake a private vehicle, but a tricycle was approaching from the opposite lane, prompting him to swerve and hit the wall. The jeepney fell on its side.
