A VILLAGE councilman and seven others were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted by police in Negros Island Region since April 18.
In Negros Oriental, Kagawad Jerry Andales, 45, of Barangay Pantao in Mabinay town, a newly-identified drug pusher, was caught selling drinking straws with granules of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu for P500 on April 19.
On the same day, Danel Estanil, 23, of Barangay Bio-os, Amlan town was arrested after police seized from him a sachet of shabu and P500 marked money.
Joven Kinikito Quillano, 32, of Barangay Taclobo, Dumaguete City, was collared by police at Barangay North Poblacion, Bacong town after he yielded two sachets of shabu, P2,120 cash, and the P500 marked money.
In Dumaguete City, Juffer Torres was arrested after police recovered from him two sachets of shabu, two lighters, and P702 cash.
In Negros Occidental, Edgar Rivera, 50, of Crossing Luguay, Barangay Balaring, Silay City was arrested by police through a search warrant.
Police recovered from Rivera during the search, a sachet of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and P240 cash.
Also arrested was Norberto Peralta Jr., 26, of Sitio Nawasa, Barangay San Jose, Binalbagan on Tuesday after he sold shabu to a police agent for P500.
In Bacolod City, Walter Margen, 37, of Purok Saturn, Barangay Handumanan was arrested on Wednesday at Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay 30, for sale and possession of illegal drugs.
Recovered from Margen were two sachets of shabu, an improvised tooter and a lighter, and the P500 marked money.
Joevanie Jamero, 52, of Himamaylan City was arrested in a drug bust at Sitio Malusay, Barangay Caradio-an, Negros Occidental on April 18 which led to a recovery of three sachets of shabu.
