Bringing joy

EMOTIONS are natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. Emotions are a person’s feelings. There are positive and negative emotions.

Shaver et al. said that there are five primary emotions with secondary and tertiary emotions. The five basic emotions are love, joy, surprise, anger, sadness and fear. All of us experience them all depending on the situation.

Joy is an emotion that everyone should experience especially the children. Joy is the feeling of great pleasure and happiness. A feeling where life is wonderful, there are no problems or that one accepts that there are solutions to every problem.

I believe that happiness should be shared through smiles, laughter and showing love. It can be contagious. It can be passed on to another. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something to give joy. A family member or friend need you so you have to give up an appointment or event.

There are many ways to give joy. Here are a few examples:

* Show them that you care by spending time with them and listening to their stories
* Compliment them. Be their cheerleader. Believe in them
* Give them gifts
* Do things for others – for a good cause. Volunteer. Share your blessings

Many visit or work in places like a home for the children, the sick or elderly. They celebrate their birthdays there or donate clothes or food. Some donate to sponsor a child or the child’s school needs.

Kalipay Negrense Foundation Inc. is a non-government organization which seeks to support the causes of the disadvantaged children. Kalipay’s mission is to provide the needs and protect the rights of the disadvantaged children. Their tagline is #BringingJoy.

Bringing joy to the children who were homeless, neglected, abandoned, abused and survivors of child labor and child trafficking.

Kalipay recently celebrated their 10th year and has helped more than a thousand children. I am joyful to be part of this organization.
