‘Dalit,’ ‘Singgit sang Nalisdan’ win best picture in 2017 Sine Negrense

“DALIT” and “Singgit sang Nalisdan” were named Best Picture in the Open Category (OC) and the Inter-Collegiate Category (IC), respectively of the Sine Negrense: Negros Island Film Festival 2017 during the awards night held Wednesday at the SM City Bacolod Cinema 4.

“Dalit,” helmed by Belle Kay Loyola, who also won as Best Director, received a P20,000 cash prize from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP ) while “Singgit sang Nalisdan,” directed by Carlo Navarrete of Silay Institute, got P10,000.

Lorenzo Kenneth Dilag of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSA-B) won as Best Director for “Asu” in the Inter-Collegiate Category.

Best Actor awardees were John Arceo for “Dalit” and Herbert Montoro for “Kapit” while Best Actress were Denli Chavez for “Happy Birthday” and Lorince Joy Gonzales for “Singgit sang Nalisdan.”

  • Best Musical Score – “Kaasab” (OC) and Landong (IC)
  • Best Sound Design – “Hawud” (OC) and “Pangalap” (IC)
  • Jury’s Choice – “Alibungan” (OC) and “Asu” (IC)
  • People’s Choice – “Handuraw” (OC) and “Landong” (IC)
  • Citation for Emerging Negrense Filmmaker – Carlo Navarrete, “Singgit sang Nalisdan”
